The University of Maine offers big university opportunities - like multi-million dollar research facilities - in an incredibly safe and welcoming community. Right from the start, freshman build the skills they need after life at UMaine. Faculty members welcome students to work alongside them on research projects, helping students gain experience through close mentor-mentee relationships.

Our students choose from over 100 undergraduate majors and over 100 Masters and PhD programs. The University is home to a world-renowned College of Engineering, where undergraduates work alongside their professors on research. International and domestic students also pursue their studies in the Maine Business School, College of Education and Human Development, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture.

Location

The University of Maine has a lot to offer – and its location is second only to its academic programs. Located in the town of Orono, the campus is safe, the community is welcoming and the air is clean. Beyond Orono, you will find quick access to some of the country’s most spectacular natural destinations, including Acadia National Park, and the urban centers of the Northeast: New York City and Boston.

Student Services

UMaine students count their successes in different ways. Some students find paid internships in engineering firms in Maine. Others travel to Washington D.C. for a placement at the National Arboretum or visit with financial professionals at the New York Stock Exchange. Perspectives on the UMaine experience are found in our student profiles.
