Location

The University is located in the center of the United States in the vibrant, twin-city community of Bloomington-Normal and has a student population of around 20,000. The metropolitan area, with a population of 150,000, has a small-town feel, but is a short distance from major cities like Chicago and St. Louis. Our campus is 970 acres with four distinct seasons—winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Academic Programs

We offer degrees and certificates in more than 160 fields of study, including information technology, computer science, communication, mathematics, business administration, teacher education, biology, and much more. Illinois State faculty and staff develop strong partnerships with industry leaders to help graduates get jobs in their fields.

Faculty and Students

Students receive individualized attention from professors, 96 percent of whom hold the highest degrees in their field. 70 percent of our undergraduate courses have 30 of fewer students and 95 percent have less than 100 students. With an annual enrollment of 18,000 undergraduate and 2,500 graduate students, the student to faculty ratio of 19 to 1 shows our commitment to small class sizes and ensures you receive the individual attention you need.
