Juniata offers an academic year Intensive English program. Students may begin in either August or January. Juniata’s IEP emphasizes small classes (average of 6 students per class), personal attention from experienced teachers and innovative methods of instruction. The Intensive English program offers courses at three proficiency levels -- intermediate, high intermediate, and advanced. There are no classes for beginners. The Intensive English Program is designed to:
- improve oral skills to communicate with confidence in English
- increase reading speed, develop writing skills and provide the study skills necessary to move with ease through an academic program
- orient the student to the keys of academic success at an American college or university
- give the participant a broad experience of American culture
- Students receive college credit for all Intensive English courses they complete. Advanced level students have the opportunity to begin degree coursework at Juniata while enjoying the support of the Intensive English Program.
