Brooklyn College

Brooklyn College, a part of the City University of New York (CUNY), is nationally known for its world-class faculty and its 125 academic majors, minors and concentrations in the arts and sciences, education, and business. In connection with CUNY’s “Decade of Science,” the college has placed a great deal of emphasis on fostering research in key areas, including nanotechnology, neuroscience, toxicology, medical microbiology, and environmental remediation.

The student body, many of whom come from 136 countries, speaking 89 different languages, reflect the city’s rich ethnic and cultural diversity, and global connections. The college fosters a strong relationship with each student in helping them achieve their goals by offering strong honors programs, plentiful student research opportunities, and prestigious internships. Alumni are actively involved in creating valuable career networking events and mentoring, especially playing an integral part in college’s pre-professional programs in the law and health-care.

Students from around the world come for a four-year degree or to study for a semester or two. The college’s International Student Service office takes great pride in providing them with guidance and support to ensure they are successfully acclimated to the school and their new surroundings. The office also organizes special events and workshops that are designed to enhance a student’s educational experience, living in New York, and in the United States.

The college’s location, in one of the safest neighborhoods in the nation, allows students and faculty alike to take full advantage of New York City’s vibrant communities. In fact, the city’s cultural institutions, parks, and waterways often substitute for classrooms, giving faculty and students alike an expanded understanding of a subject and the role it plays in the greater world.
