Life at Adelphi

It's easy and fun to get involved in the rich campus life at Adelphi. With over 80 student clubs and organizations, many of which are aimed at students from other countries, special interest groups, Greek societies, and community service organizations, students are encouraged to get involved. The Student Activities Board coordinates many events including live music, movie and comedy nights, a prestigious speaker series, and frequent trips to Broadway shows and athletic events. You can enjoy award-winning theatre and dance performances at the new Performing Arts Center, cheer on nationally ranked athletic teams in the Center for Recreation and Sports, work out at the fitness center, or simply relax over coffee at the Underground Café.

Support at Adelphi

Adelphi provides its students with the necessary facilities and support services to succeed from the time of orientation until long after students graduate.

The University's central library houses a fully computerized collection of over 1.4 million volumes, microformat, and audiovisual items, as well as electronic access to libraries worldwide. State-of-the-art computer labs are available throughout campus, with plug-in stations available for student notebook computers. Every dormitory room is wired for T-1 Internet access, and each student receives an email address and voicemail service.

The Center for Career Development helps provide students with opportunities within the Adelphi community and beyond. Through internships on and off campus, the Center assists students in attaining valuable experience related to their major field. The Center posts more than 10,000 new job and internship opportunities annually, and over 200 organizations seeking to recruit Adelphi students visit campus each year. The Center also offers a wide variety of other services including training in career searches, counseling on career development, résumé preparation, and effective interviewing techniques.

International Support at Adelphi

Adelphi has a strong commitment to international education. The Office of International Student Services assists in meeting legal requirements for entry into the United States and maintaining legal status while studying at the University. The Office provides advice regarding requirements of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, Social Security Administration, United States Information Agency, and Internal Revenue Service. Information and advice are also offered concerning differences in government laws and regulations, language, customs, culture, and educational systems.

ELS Language Centers

ELS Language Centers conduct classes in intensive English on Adelphi's campus. The program offers 12 levels of instruction, ranging from beginning to university preparation. Completion of level 12 is accepted by Adelphi and other top-level schools in lieu of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
