What is American Honors?

American Honors is a 2+2 pathway program to Top 200 U.S. colleges and universities. We are a nationally recognized 2-year selective honors program at leading community colleges across the United States.

Transfer Success Stories

KIM, American Honors at Ivy Tech, Class of 2014 Transferred to The University of Southern California Kim arrived in the United States as a refugee from Burma, an experience that shaped his interest in medicine and public health to help children who grew up like him. He is overjoyed to be transferring to the University of Southern California to pursue his goals. When accepted, he emailed his American Honors advisor saying: “I’m very thankful to everyone who supported me to obtain this opportunity - thank you to everyone here for making my dreams possible!”

JANA, American Honors at Community Colleges of Spokane, Class of 2014 Transferred to Cornell University Jana moved to the U.S. to live with relatives, speaking virtually no English in high school. Jana applied to the American Honors program and became very proactive in her transfer college search. Jana attended all of the American Honors transfer seminars and dedicated time to revising her application and essays with the help of her transfer advisor. Jana was accepted into multiple schools and plans to attend Cornell University in Fall 2014 to study Human Biology, Health and Society.

ROBERT, American Honors at Ivy Tech, Class of 2014 Transferred to Stanford University Robert grew up in New York and pursued several employment opportunities right after high school, including working for an independent movie director in Eastern Europe and South America. After working and supporting his family for several years, Robert decided to return to university and enrolled in the American Honors program. Very diligent in his transfer application process, Robert was accepted to eight top universities and plans to attend Stanford this fall, where he received a 100% scholarship.

American Honors Transfer Network

All members of the American Honors Transfer Network specifically seek out our program graduates for transfer to their institution.

A distinct set of institutions provide assured admissions, meaning admission is guaranteed if students successfully complete the American Honors program and meet specific requirements, such as GPA level.

Admissions

American Honors offers both Direct Admission and Conditional Admission. SAT/ACT test scores are not required.

Direct Admission: Students accepted directly into the American Honors program have the equivalent of a 3.2+ U.S. GPA and have earned a score on one English language proficiency of at least: IELTS 6.0+ or TOEFL iBT 71+ or ITEP 4.5+ or PTE 54+.

Conditional Admission: Without English Language Proficiency scores, Conditional Admission is awarded to students. Students may begin their studies in the Intensive English Program and must demonstrate English proficiency prior to enrolling in the American Honors program.

Housing Options

• Homestay: Live with an American family and enjoy a fully-furnished private room with daily meals and transportation to campus.
• Single room: Similar to a Homestay, you can rent a private furnished room in the home of a local family. Accommodations include access to bathroom facilities and the family kitchen where you can prepare your own meals.
• Residence Hall: Located both on-campus and off-campus, residence halls are a secure, fully furnished apartment-style living quarters with students from around the world. Each apartment has a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and separate living quarters.
