Excellent reputation
Clark University has an outstanding reputation in the United States. The 2004 Edition of the Princeton Review ranks Clark as number 8 in the United States for student diversity. Clark ranks 18th in the nation (of 900 liberal arts institutions) in graduates entering Ph.D. programs. Jay Mathews, author of Harvard Schmarvard---Getting beyond the Ivy League to the College That Is Best for You ranks Clark # 3 out of "the top 100 outstanding, non Ivy League colleges". Clark is also one of 40 colleges written about in the book by Lauren Pope called Colleges That Change Lives.
The College of Professional and Continuing Education (COPACE) has been serving adult learners for over 75 years. The COPACE programs reflect the same strengths that have made Clark University a leading university in the US for over one-hundred years.
We offer:
Customization to Personal Goals: The graduate degree curricula allow students to tailor the degree to custom fit their individual aspirations. Students may use their elective courses to fashion a program that is deeply satisfying because it suits their own particular needs.
Advisement Always Available: Advisement is available to all students at all times that the COPACE Graduate Programs office is open. Students may rely on receiving personal attention to their concerns and prompt responses to their questions from the day they inquire about a graduate degree program through the day they graduate from the program. Graduate Programs staff members are ready to assist students with their advising needs every weekday during office hours and into the evening.
Alternative to the GRE/GMAT Exam Requirement: The GRE or GMAT exam is required for admission; however, those who complete two or three courses with grades of "B" or above may substitute these courses for the GRE or GMAT test score.
"Rolling" Admissions: Students may apply for matriculation into a degree program at any time during a calendar year. A student may begin studies at four different points during the year: fall, spring, early summer and mid summer.
Internship Experience: To link the classroom to the marketplace, a formal internship is offered to graduate students with less than three years' full-time professional work experience. Interns are placed in carefully selected, mutually agreed upon sites where they engage in the full range of duties assigned to entry-level employees. Ordinary tasks are balanced with challenging responsibilities that will contribute to their professional growth. Interns report to a designated on-site supervisor who provides guidance and feedback on performance and participates in the evaluation process. Interns are provided a comprehensive handbook and participate in a regular seminar to share experiences and strategies to position themselves better to enter the career path of their choice with poise. The internship counts as one elective.
A welcoming environment for International Students: We have many international students in our degree programs. We are experienced with processing visa forms and understand the requirements for both F-1 and J-1 visas.
TOEFL and other Tests of English Scores: Those whose parent country language is English or whose first degree was delivered in English do not need to submit an English test score. For all others, a TOEFL score of 233 or its equivalent on an alternative test is required for admission to a graduate program at Clark University. If your score is below this level, there are options for temporary Provisional and Conditional admission. We accept some other tests of English as a substitute. The following are tests and scores that we accept in addition to TOEFL.
- IELTS – minimum level 6
- TOEIC - minimum 785 points
- FCE - minimum grade A
- CAE - regardless of the grade
- CPE - regardless of the grade
Teaching Faculty: Our teaching faculty are working professionals who are leaders in their field. Although all faculty have advanced degrees, we insist that our teaching faculty have current experience in their field as well as continual effectiveness as a teacher.
