Laureate English Program

Laureate English Program at Kendall College (LEP) in Chicago offers you the unique opportunity to receive intensive language instruction while immersing yourself in American culture. Using the well-known Cambridge University Press content as a teaching tool, we offer you student-centered and outcome-based curriculum led by our outstanding faculty.

For students looking to improve their English for academic study in the United States, we offer a ten week Intensive Immersion Program and for those students looking to immerse themselves in American culture, we offer a four week Language and Culture Seminar.

Our Provisional Admission program may be available to students who do not meet Kendall College’s English language admission requirement.

Your studies take place in a beautiful $60 million facility that occupies 5 acres along the Chicago River. Amenities include:

The Laureate English Program [LEP] at Kendall College offers immersive:

  • Foundational English
  • Academic English

These courses prepare non-native English speakers for higher education in English:

  • The LEP uses student–centered teaching methods and an outcome-based curriculum.

Our relationship with these three leaders allows the LEP at Kendall College to provide high-quality content and assessment tools.

Intensive Immersion [10-Weeks]

Levels 1-3: Foundational English

  • Levels 1-3 in Foundational Immersion prepare students to advance to higher levels
  • Classes develop general English skills
  • Classes provide much practice in speaking, listening, reading and writing

Levels 4-6: Academic English

  • Academic English courses prepare students to higher levels of English or into academic courses
  • Classes focus on academic skills:listening to lectures, note taking, writing reports and more

Language and Culture Seminar (4-Weeks)

Enjoy four weeks in the United States immersed in the English language and American culture. Stay in downtown Chicago surrounded by world class shopping, restaurants and attractions.

  • Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday, providing students with long weekends to further explore Chicago
  • Afternoon field trips and evening activities are scheduled as part of the program

Cultural Excursions

On numerous afternoons of the 4 and 10-week programs, Kendall College representatives lead you on cultural excursions to continue improving your English and to have fun. Some of the more popular outings include:

  • Architectural and Building Tours
  • Museum visits (Museum of Modern Art, Field Museum, Art Institute of Chicago)
  • Shopping on Michigan Avenue (Macys, Sacks, Nordstrom, Gucci flagship store, and countless other high end designers)
  • Theatre District

Your Instructors

You receive personalized attention (16:1 student to faculty ratio) from a dedicated team of Kendall instructors. Your Director of the LEP is Dr. Maria A. Montalvo, who has over 30 years of experience in the field of education.

Your Career

Career Services is available to meet with students and alumni to discuss internship and employment opportunities, continuing education and aspects of the job search process as students plan for their futures. Students and alumni have the opportunity to interview with local, national and international-based companies for internship, part-time and full-time positions during on-campus special events.
