Campus Life

Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands, and its population of approximately 160,000 is diverse, with a unique ethnic blend of students and staff from Hawai‘i, the continental U.S., and from around the world. Our campus is centrally located on Maui, and is about a half mile (about 0.8 km) from the airport with easy access to world-class beaches, swimming pools, tennis courts, track and soccer fields, ocean activities such as surfing and Hawaiian canoe-paddling. Directly across from the campus is the Ke‘Opuolani Regional Park, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, and Maui Arts and Cultural Center, a performing arts center with theaters hosting performances from major artists like Jack Johnson and UB40. Within easy walking distance is the Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center featuring over 100 department stores, shops and restaurants, the Kahului Pool, and Waterfront Apartments, a privately owned apartment complex that many of our international students stay. Our UH Maui Fit offers hands-on, interactive fitness classes on everything from Yoga to Freestyle Core Training. Taking a great advantage of the warm climate in Maui (average temperature in Maui is in high 82°F (28°C) and low 68 °F (20°C), students enjoy a rich and vibrant series of activities throughout the year.

UHMC is a diverse and multicultural institution and we welcome and celebrate the people, including international students, who are a part of our campus ohana. We are committed to providing all members of its campus community with a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment to learn.
