UCF’s English Language Institute (ELI)

Many students that are coming to study at UCF will start their journey at UCF’s English Language Institute. We welcome students from all around the world who choose sunny Orlando, Florida to build their future at our world-class university.

As a student at the UCF English Language Institute, you will be taught by highly qualified, friendly, and culturally diverse teachers who hold Master’s and Ph.D.’s in the field of second-language learning.  These full time faculty members create a dynamic classroom atmosphere, so learning is fun!  In this environment, many international students will begin their studies at the University of Central Florida and improve their English skills to move into UCF Undergraduate and Graduate degree programs. 

While you attend the English Language Institute, you will enjoy access to all the benefits of a UCF student.  The university also features a five-story library, a 14,000 sq. meter recreation and wellness center, and an American football stadium!  Additionally, your classes will be held in the brand-new Global UCF building! Positioned in the middle of campus, this building includes all the immigration advising and academic support you will need to be successful at UCF. 

Required documents for English Language Institute online application:

  • Copy of Passport
  • Copy of High School Diploma
  • Copy of Financial Support Documents
  • Copy of dependents’ passports if applicable

All Documents must be translated into English

Admission Requirements for UCF:

  • Complete the online Application &  pay the application fee
  • Official transcripts (translations and evaluations if required)
  • SAT or ACT exam scores (for freshmen applicants and transfers with fewer than 60 credits)
  • GRE or GMAT exam scores (if required by graduate program)
  • TOEFL or IELTS exam scores if necessary:
    • TOEFL iBT score of 80.
    • IELTS band score of 6.5
  • Immigration documents including proof of finances
  • (Additional requirements as listed for specific graduate programs)

Please note, certain graduate programs have higher TOEFL/IELTS score minimums; be sure to check individual program requirements.

UCF’s ELI has 5 start dates throughout the year to make it easier for you to begin your journey in Orlando. UCF starts in Fall, Spring, and Summer.
