English Language Institute (ELI)

  • Four levels of Instruction - You will be placed according to your proficiency with English.

  • Intensive study - You will receive 23 hours of instruction per week.

  • Areas of Emphasis - You will receive instruction in oral/aural skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and grammar and writing skills.

  • Six sessions per year - You may begin your program in September, October, January, March, May and July academic terms.

  • Experienced Teachers - You will be taught by teachers who hold advanced degrees in English, Linguistics or related fields. Teaching Staff have considerable experience working with non native English Speakers.

  • Social/Cultural Activities - You will have the opportunity to develop your skills while learning about your fellow classmates and the history and beauty of Hartford.

  • TOEFL Preparation - You will have the opportunity to take a TOEFL preparation class. The English Language Institute offers the Institutional TOEFL at the end of each semester.
