Program Description:
The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) offers full-time and part-time English Language and American Culture instruction to international students and faculty, foreign professionals, and members of the Connecticut community.
At IELP, we care about you and are dedicated to ensuring that you have a positive experience. Each session's courses are tailored to meet the needs of students enrolled at that time. Our classes are small, so teachers get to know you and offer you support and encouragement. Professionally degreed instructors provide you with cutting-edge multimedia technology as a means to strengthen your classroom learning experience. Activities arranged by the IELP offer you the opportunity to meet and interact with American students and local culture through our Conversation Partners program and various educational field trips.

Program of Study:
Intensive English Language & American Culture
- Course levels include beginning through advanced
- Courses divided into Listening/Speaking and Reading/Writing sections
- Sections meet 10 hours per week for 8 weeks

Transition
- Integrated skills training with strong emphasis on preparing for university level coursework
- Opportunity to enroll in two regular university credit classes simultaneously
- Course meets 10 hours per week for 16 weeks
- Students may earn 6-9 college credits
Full-Time Summer Program
- Two 4-week sessions offered
- Classes includes Reading/Writing and Listening/Speaking
- Beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels
Special Programs:
The IELP offers customized programs in such specialty areas as business, technical and medical English upon demand. Courses may be customized for groups at any time during the year.

- Admission Requirements: Admission to the IELP is open to high school graduates or persons with an equivalency diploma. A beginning knowledge of English is recommended. Admission to IELP does not constitute admission to CCSU.
- Graduate School Conditional Admission: may be offered to students who are academically eligible for admission to a graduate program and who meet the minimum TOEFL requirement (482/160/56 for graduate-level applicants). Students must apply directly to Graduate School in order to be considered for conditional admission.
- Application Information: Applications are accepted throughout the year. IELP offers 5 sessions a year, each 8 weeks long.
